Newsletter – September 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

A warm welcome back to school for those of you that are already part of the Sigglesthorne family and for those of you that have joined us for the first time, we are happy to welcome you to the family.  It is fantastic to see the children arriving back looking so smart.

The teachers have done a wonderful job setting up their classrooms and Mr Tennison has been busy cleaning and preparing the whole school so we were met with a pristine school to return to.  The learning environments really do look wonderful and I know the children will be keen to share their classrooms with you at our first parent curriculum event.

I do hope you can join us at one of our events this term, please see the list on the reverse of the letter for the dates ahead.  In addition please see your child’s curriculum letter which will include information about specific class routines and their learning.

Kind regards

Mrs S Hall and Mrs J Grant

Equipment

Please check your child has all of their equipment named in school.  Every child should have with them a water bottle, P.E kit (including trainers) and a coat suitable for our changeable weather.

Pupil leadership in school

This week we will be electing our new school council and recruiting for our other leadership roles in school.  The children are keen to take on a wide range of responsibilities in school and we look forward to introducing them to you soon.  We take pupil leadership very seriously at Sigglesthorne. If your child does not take up a specific leader role in school, but is keen to share the great ideas they have, please encourage them to write down their ideas and place them in the school council suggestion box.  These are read every month and children giving suggestions are invited along to meetings to share their ideas.  We really do want every voice to be heard.

Our newly elected school council will be sharing their very own pupil development plan in the coming weeks.  Look out for the pupil development plan bookmark in your child’s bag to see the fantastic work they will be taking the lead on.

Medical information for children in school

If your child has any medical needs that we are not aware of please contact the school office.  For all children with medical needs already identified, information will be sent home for you to check and return to ensure it is accurate.
