Newsletter – December 2019

Tuesday 3rd December

Dear Parents and Carers,

We can certainly tell it’s Christmas time at Sigglesthorne – Mrs Davis has the Christmas jumper on (she has a quite an enviable Christmas collection) and the tree has arrived! I have just heard from the children about the antics of our little Elf and carols can be heard echoing down the corridors.  Christmas really is a magical time of year in school.  I hope you are able to join us as at one of our Christmas events.

Kind regards

Mrs S Hall

Attendance

It is so important for the children to be in school whenever possible.  Our whole-school target is 97%.  We are at 96.2%. Thank you for supporting us in making sure your child is in school and ready to learn every day.

Mrs Paddison

As we end this school term we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Paddison.  Mrs Paddison is a valued member of our school team and will certainly be staying in touch – we’ll make sure of it.  I cannot thank her enough for all of her hard work, commitment and dedication to the school.  She will be missed!  I am sure you will all join me in thanking her for all of her incredible work and wishing her well as she moves on to join another EBOR school in January.  They really are lucky to have her!

A GOOD Ofsted

The report is now live on the Ofsted site and it has been lovely to get so many phone calls flooding in about the good work of the school and the excellent report.  The reports have changed quite substantially with the new inspection framework and as such are not as long as they once were.  This meant that the inspector was unable to capture, in the report, many of the wonderful things she saw.  One in particular was the exceptional work of children in supporting each other.  We are so incredibly proud of the children and their attitudes to learning each and every day.  This is a strength of the school and one that we really do celebrate!

Safety Week

Our safety event in school was a great opportunity for us all to come together with our safety service men and women who do remarkable work in our community.  The feedback was superb from both children and adults and we are truly grateful to all who turned out to lead our sessions. Many thanks to the staff too, who have worked to put together such a wonderful event and link our learning to these wonderful opportunities.

The Christmas Fair

We look forward to welcoming you all to the Christmas Fair on Wednesday 18th December at 2pm.  Each class will be creating products for their own stalls and the PTFA have an exciting selection of stalls prepared for the event.  We do hope you are

able to join us and support the children and PTFA in this enterprising event.  All proceeds will go towards the PTFA’s funds that directly support your children in school.  We are incredibly grateful to all who donate their time to the PTFA.  It really does help us to provide opportunities for the children in a time when educational budgets are tight!  Thank you for all your donations for the tombola we have received.

Parent Hub

All children will receive a paper copy of all letters and a parent hub upload of the letter will also be sent.  A Monday update of any events that week will be sent via parent hub and letters sent out will be uploaded as they are sent each.  You can also visit our website to see our newsletters.
